SELFIE: Think about what is in the background when you take your snap
How can I protect myself in pictures?
If you’re taking a sneaky selfie, then cropping out any facial or bodily features that identify you is a good idea. It means that even if the photo was shared against your will then at least you might not be recognised.
Also think about the backdrop. You might not want to show off anything that might obviously be linked back to you – like a clear shot of your bedroom.
Once you’ve papped a photo make sure to delete it off your camera roll to avoid embarrassment the next time you’re scrolling through it with friends.
Remember, you don’t even have to completely strip off and sometimes just hinting can be sexier. And after you’ve shared an image with someone, it’s out of your hands and you have no control over what they do with it.

Snapchat
Snapchats one of the most popular photo-sharing app with 100 million active users every day.
And lots of people think sending rude pics through the app is safe because they disappear after a maximum of 10 seconds.
But it’s doesn’t mean you’re completely safe from becoming the victim of revenge porn.
While the app does tell you if you’re snap has been screenshotted – making it a bit less risky – there are ways that to save snapchats without people knowing.
However there are other apps on the market that encrypt your messages to prevent them from being leaked – like Wickr and Sess Me.
Wickr
Encrypted messaging app Wickr is a more much secure way to sext because the messages you send and receive can’t be hacked. You can also set messages to self-destruct after as long as three seconds or up to six days.
SessMe
This is a new app that which could be the best and safest way to sext. SessMe lets you encrypt messages, photos, video and audio and even allows you to delete messages you’ve sent to someone on their phone.
What’s the law in the UK when it comes to sexting?
While it might be legal to have sex when you’re over the age of 16, it’s actually illegal to take, hold or share photos of anyone under the age of 18.
So a 17-year-old can legally have sex but not share a nude pic.
It counts as distributing an indecent image of a child, which is a serious criminal offence. You could receive a police caution or even end up on the sex offenders register.
Also, sending an unwanted sext could be seen as a crime because it could be seen as harassment and fall under the Malicious Communications Act.
