Have you ever heard of people talking about big quantities like this with Adsense? If you’re a webmaster I’m sure you know what Adsense is and I’m sure you’ve heard you can make a few extra bucks with Adsense.
Have you seen those checks claiming a few extra hundreds or even more than a thousand dollars per month with Adsense alone?
Achieving those numbers isn’t that hard if you know how to rank a few micro niche sites to get a few thousand views per month and monetize them with Adsense. It’s the same principle and basics you’ve read everywhere and it works with anything, not only Adsense.
I have earned a lot more than that just with Adsense back in 2013-2014 with my viral sites strategy.
A few weeks ago I published an interview with my friend Zach who is making now 5 figures with Amazon Affiliate Sites. Just 2 months ago he was making around $8,000 per month and now he’s finally broken the $10,000 mark. Good for him. 
I know how it feels. I know how challenging it is to go from $1,000 per month to $10,000 per month and the key most people don’t know is how to scale their business to 5 or even 6 figures per month.
In that interview I mentioned a small mastermind I have on Facebook and we recently had new members coming in. Chris Lee is one of them, and the reason I mention this is because he’s going to be the star today.
Meet Chris Lee from RankXL
This isn’t an interview though. Chris has its own blog at RankXL.com and he documents his SEO efforts and income reports there. Chris worked at an SEO at a company and a few years ago he decided to go full time into this and leave his job to build his own business.
I think he’s doing OK 
Last year he started blogging his efforts to build websites and he quickly captured the attention of many readers from different blogs and forums in the niche. In December 2014 he posted his first income report where he earned $4,118 just from Adsense and his ranked websites. His goal for 2015 was 5 figures (A.K.A. $10,000 per month or more) and he quickly achieved them in January after one of his sites improved its rankings the first weeks of the year.

Anyway…
I’m telling you this because Chris comes from a company and he is prepared to deal with Google the right way. Instead of creating small niche sites that can potentially earn $500 per month, Chris focuses on building big authority sites so he earns $5,000-$10,000 extra per month with each one of them.
His methods are not about creating a small 5-10 page website with an EMD (exact match domain) and linking it until it ranks. He wants to be the authority in his niches and just so you can get an idea, in January-February he scheduled and posted around 160 new articles for his authority site just to keep it growing in different categories (resulting in a good increase of Adsense profits).
This is different to what I’ve seen in many forums and blogs about SEO. But we need to follow the trend because this is what works now. Haydn from NoHatDigital and Spencer haws from NichePursuits have mentioned it before.
Building an authority site that you can grow to 4-5 figures per month is a lot better than growing small niche sites that earn 3 figures per month each.
I have seen this work with my experiments and a very good reason is because Google still wants quality in their search engine results. And quality isn’t easily achieved within small sites unless they’re company sites or something similar.
Another great thing about having authority sites is that rankings are easy to achieve once the site has grown up some authority. Sometimes you don’t even need more backlinks to get first page rankings within several pages just because your website has grown an authority under the eyes of Google.
How many times have you seen something like that?
How many times have you found gigantic websites with very thin or simple content and NO BACKLINKS ranking in the top 3 results just because they’re so big that Google can’t ignore them?
Think about Amazon or IGN or any big news website. Most of them don’t focus on SEO (at least not as much as we do) and still get rankings quick.
Well, that is the power of Authority.
Another reason why this is very interesting is because Chris uses Adsense in all of his websites alone. No Amazon, no affiliate offers, no CPA offers, no private programs. He focuses on Adsense 100% and he’s killing it. Instead of focusing on monetization methods he just focuses on getting traffic and converting this traffic into clicks. This is very similar to what I used to do with viral websites.
Nowadays Adsense isn’t my style because I have learned a lot of monetization methods, but I’m sure Adsense fits 70% of my readers and web masters around the globe.
